This past April, the choir presented an Evensong program that was recorded. Below is a link to a digitized version of that presentation and we hope that you will enjoy listening to it. Using Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player will provide you with the best listening experience. Even dial-up connections supporting these programs should provide acceptable results. Here is the link to this wonderful service:
Audio on the web has numerous challenges. Without getting too technical, here are some notes: The digital format of the above file is a format that supports Audio Streaming to Microsoft's Windows Media Player. "Streaming" means that the music will start right after Windows Media Player is loaded - you do not need to wait for the entire 5.5MB file to download. That is what will happen on most PC's that use MS Internet Explorer and that are not so old that they do not have Window's Media Player software (a freebee with Windows). If you are not experienced at playing audio files, we are not able to predict how easy or how difficult this will be for you. If this is new for you, try to be patient, understand the messages you get, and work through the issues as they are presented. Some folks use non-Microsoft software like Netscape for a browser or RealPlayer instead of Windows Media Player. RealPlayer, and some other media players, are supposed to support "streaming" but we can't guarantee it will work that way for you. If you have dial-up service and your setup supports streaming, you should get satisfactory results. If you have dial-up service and your setup does not support streaming, then you will have to wait for your system to download the entire 5.5 MB file in order to play this file. A couple of tests with AOL were also successful. In both tests, AOL loaded Windows Media Player and streamed the file for fine stereo sound. We tested AOL with a DSL (broadband) connection and a 56K modem dial-up connection. We did not have to wait for the entire file to download for either test. There are so many variations of systems and software that it is too difficult and time-consuming for us to address them all. Let's just say that you may not get "streaming audio" - your PC may insist on downloading the entire file before playing any of it (and this is very time-consuming on a dial-up connection). Or you may have any of a number of technical issues that prevent you from being able to download or play this file. We can not help you with any of those issues. You might be able to get some help or direction from your Internet Service Provider. This file is Windows Media Audio 9 32 kbps, 22 kHz, stereo 2-pass CBR. A Heartfelt THANK YOU goes to the choir for their wonderful performance and to Tom Brown for recording the event, creating this specially digitized file, and getting it loaded onto our server. Well Done, Tom! |
