Annual Meeting Info Our Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday January 28th, 2007 after the 10am
service in Fryer Hall. Positions to be filled are: Those interested in running for one of the positions, please contact Rev. Jonathan, Lisa Olsen(Warden), or Joan McNulty (Vestry Clerk).
As stated at the beginning of our By-Laws, our Parish is organized to be and serve as a Parish of the Diocese of New Jersey (the Diocese) as provided in the Constitution and Canons of the Diocese and therefore, the Parish is a constituent part of the Diocese in accordance with the Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America (the Episcopal Church) and the Diocese. You will notice that the By-Laws make reference to the Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Church of the USA (ECUSA) and the Diocese of NJ. Here are links to those Canons:
http://www.episcopalchurch.org/13299_35619_ENG_HTM.htm
http://newjersey.anglican.org/DiocesanConvention/ConstCanons/ The documents at these two links define the parameters (foundation and definitions) within which we function as a Parish. For example, when defining who may be elected to any of the positions to be voted on at the Annual Meeting, our By-Laws state "all of whom shall be confirmed communicants in good standing as defined by the Constitution and Canons of the Church". The ECUSA Canons define "confirmed", "communicants", and "in good standing" (in Canon 17 at http://www.churchpublishing.org/general_convention/pdf_const_2003/Title_I_OrgAdmin.pdf). Canons 13 and 14 cover Parishs, Congregations, and Vestries at a high level. The NJ Diocese Canons defines who is eligible to vote during the Annual Meeting in Canon 49: (http://newjersey.anglican.org/DiocesanConvention/ConstCanons/Canons-Part4.html#C49). Hopefully you will find this information helpful prior to the 2007 Annual Meeting. If you find these details to be confusing, we have until January 28th to review them together - feel free to speak with any of our Vestry members or Jonathan.
